Jill Biden Debuts White House Christmas Decor With 77 Trees, LifeSized Replicas Of Family Dog & More

First Lady Jill Biden showed off the White House's latest holiday decor with a pair of tweets on Monday, Nov. 28. While she decked the halls with classic holiday characters, she included life-size models of Major the dog and Willow the cat and her president, Joe Biden , for a special family look. The first lady shared that she wanted to bring the classic American theme of "We the People" into the jewelry, inspired by the Preamble to the Constitution. "For this year's White House celebration, we hope to convey the spirit embodied in the idea of America: We are the people," he wrote.

Major and Willow's copies were placed in two large books, with smaller books underneath and open to the side of the mantelpiece under the portrait of President Abraham Lincoln. Both had "We the Children" written on their pages. "The concept of 'We the People' embodies the promise of the next generation," says Major's book. "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our family to you," another book said. In addition to the literary display, there were two large Christmas trees and fireplace stockings.

While opening the awards, Jill Biden gave a speech in which she spoke more about the theme of "We the People." "When our country is united, we are stronger. What we share is more than what separates us. Our human spirit is and always has been. We are human," he said.

In addition to the personal touches of the Major and Willow models, many of the other decorations were classic holiday treats, including giant Christmas trees, jeweled doors, wreaths, red bows and curtains, lots of lights and faux snow. Adding to the theme, the decorations also included a model of the White House with the Constitution behind it, showing the preamble "We the People". The White House holiday display includes 77 trees and more than 83,000 holiday lights in the presidential residence, according to a news release.

In a welcome letter describing the decorum, Biden elaborated on the matter. "As our nation gathers for the holidays, traditions may differ, but our shared American values of possibility, optimism and unity persist through each season," they said. “When you visit the People's House, through rooms filled with history and Christmas decorations, mirror decorations and reflected lights, we hope you feel at home and immerse yourself in America's great history. " We, the people " pledge to light our way in the new year and always be united.

Before the decorations were officially unveiled, Dr. Biden teased the event by tweeting a video of "The Bell's Song" playing with lights on one of the White House's miniature displays. "Holiday is here," he wrote.

During his first Christmas in the White House in 2021, Biden shared that the theme is a little different, but still spreads the holiday spirit. "Inspired by acts of kindness and experiences that have lifted our spirits this year, the decorated rooms of the White House reflect the gifts of the heart that unite us all: faith, family, friendship, art, culture, nature, gratitude, service, community, peace and Unity," he wrote at the time.
