Senior Democrats from Northwest Arkansas meet March 21 at 11:30 a.m. in Ziegler Hall at the Fayetteville Public Library.

The speakers will be Lindsley and Stephen Smith, who will discuss their recent book Women of State: A Centenary History of Arkansas Legislators, 1922-2022. Among them were several other significant women in Arkansas history, as well as legislators. The Smiths' book can be purchased from a Pearl Bookstore representative and signed at the meeting.

Lunch can be purchased from the library dining room and taken to the Ziegler Lounge.

Ozark Hill Hikers, affiliated with the American Folk Sports Association, invites all interested hikers to hike March 22 in Fayetteville. Check-in from 9:30 am to 10:00 am at Walgreens, 2964 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. There is a $3 fee for payments with credit and $2 for payments without credit.

This is a short ride to the start of the trail (Cato Springs Trail) where participants can choose to hike 5 or 10 km. This hike follows picturesque green trails in Mount Kessler Regional Park.

Ozark Hill Hikers membership costs $12 per year prorated for each remaining month of the calendar year.

garden club

The Bella Vista Garden Club meets March 22 at Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. The social hour starts at 9:30, the meeting starts at 10:00. This month's speaker will be Joal Miller, President of BVGC Plant Sales. The topic of their discussion is "From Greenhouse to Garden: The Life Cycle of Our Beautiful Plants". Club member Tony LeCausi will present What's New in Gardening: Growing Vegetables.

Club meetings are held regularly on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Bella Vista Community Church. Visitors are always welcome.

CEILING

Quilters United In Learning Together meets March 23 at 6:30 pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Springdale. Come at 18:00 to sign up for programs and sign up. The show will feature Merry Ford of Kansas City, Missouri, whose theme is "I Love Chocolate: Brown Cloth is a Delicious Choice." Ford, a certified teacher by Laura Heine, will also be leading a collage workshop at Emmanuel Lutheran Church on March 24. Pre-registration required. Non-members can participate for a $10 fee. Membership costs $30 per year.

March 23 is the last day to send small donations of handmade quilt auction items to the quilt shop for the April 21-22 quilt show at the Benton County Fairgrounds.

MUFFIN

The Northwest branch of the Arkansas Mutual UFO Network will meet on March 25 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Fayetteville Airport Conference Room at Drake Field. Agenda items will include UFO/UUV case reports from Arkansas, an update on the Pathways to Discovery project, book reports, and a report on the MUFON observer network for members.

Section meetings are open to members, guests, and anyone with a sincere interest in the UFO phenomenon. For early arrivals, the meeting room is open from 9:30.

Cotton cut

The Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild will meet on March 27 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Sengel Hall at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road in Bella Vista. The guest speaker is Cathy Eubank, a member of the National Association of Certified Quilting Judges. She will discuss the judging process and take away the fear of quilting at the show by explaining the criteria used to judge quilts and the elements of the loop winning quilt. The program will be followed by a question and answer session.

genealogical society

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society (NAGS) meets March 27 at 6:00 pm at the Bentonville Public Library. Mark Olsen, Family Tree Maker Genealogy Software Ambassador, will present the presentation "Introduction to Family Tree Maker 24.1 Update". He has been their ambassador since 2016 and has been working in the field of genealogy since 2007.

The society has been working for over 50 years to help researchers uncover the stories of their ancestors and create their family tree. We welcome everyone.

Civil War

The Bella Vista Civil War Roundtable will meet April 6 at 7:00 pm at the Bella Vista Museum, 1885 Bella Vista Way in Bella Vista. The show is directed by Dr. William Piston hosts a show called We Gave Thunder: The Maramduk Raid and the Missouri and Arkansas Civil War.

Piston from Johnson City, Tennessee. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Vanderbilt University and his Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. In 1988, he joined the history department at the University of Missouri and taught courses in the Civil War and American military history until his retirement in 2017. He is currently Chairman of the Ozark Civil War Roundtable and Vice President of the National Wilson Creek Battlefield Trust. . He is the author, co-author and editor of numerous books and articles.

The meeting is free and public. Donations are accepted to help with the speaker's expenses.

perfect harmony

The Perfect Harmony Barbers' Women's Choir meets every Monday from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Highland Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd., Bellavista.

For our bass and baritone groups, the choir is currently looking for women who usually sing a second alto or tenor in a bass clef or have a deep voice.

No prior knowledge or certifications are required.
