In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Prerana Agarwal Saxena, founder of Theme Weavers Designs, offered some top tips and tricks for incorporating sustainability into luxury wedding décor.

1. Choice of environmental materials

From crafting a Mandap with only natural materials to elegant white rows of perforated fabrics hanging overhead, a lavish wedding can exude sustainability and extravagance. Healthy weddings don't have to be intimate and small. You can travel to destinations and plan lavish weddings, but you can also be eco-friendly. Some simple tips include using sustainable materials like jute or sugar cane for your wedding decorations. In addition, creative rethinking of wedding décor items can make a beautiful wedding more sustainable.

2. Local voice

The use of local materials for wedding decoration reflects the essence of the region and promotes sustainable development. This not only opens up opportunities for local artisans and vendors, but also reduces waste and the overall carbon footprint of the wedding. For example, a wedding can be decorated with local flowers and reusable or recyclable decorative items made by local craftsmen. It's important to consider all aspects of decorating, find a more sustainable way to do it, and experience the magic that happens.

3. Place as a decoration

An eco-friendly wedding can start by choosing an eco-friendly venue that will reduce the carbon footprint of the celebration. The easiest option for such a place is to choose an outdoor garden. This reduces energy consumption by dimming lighting and minimizing embellishments as greenery becomes a glamorous wedding backdrop. A lush green garden, beautiful lawn, beautiful vineyard, rolling hills, or any other stunning location can cut down on the use of wedding decorations and thus make the celebration more sustainable.

4. Artificial flowers

Recently, the trend towards artificial flowers has increased dramatically for various reasons. An easy way to add sustainability to your wedding is to replace real bouquets with artificial flowers. Similarly, the practice of using natural flowers for the couple's soul can be replaced with cloth petals. Plus, you can step up your eco-friendly wedding game by using artificial flowers instead of flowers. Artificial flowers are also ideal for the future, as they do not deteriorate.
