Sir David Attenborough is speeding up filming towards the end of his documentaries to ensure animal safety, a colleague said.
The 96-year-old BBC presenter has previously said he is "not an animal lover" and insisted he was only fascinated by nature.
However, Mike Gunton, executive producer of the Dynasty franchise, disagreed, telling the naturalist how things are with the creatures in his series before saying so.
The latest episode of Dynasties focuses on fighting macaques in the Atlas Mountains, where the monkey species is at risk of being poached for the pet trade.
Gunton told Radio Times, "He often looks to the end [of a show before he says it] to see what's going on – he just wants to make sure everything's okay, which I find charming and out of character for him." "
Although the popular naturalist has cut back on his public appearances in recent years, Gunton said that hasn't stopped the presenter from working, admitting he's "still very excited."
He added: "As you know, with David, you can't stop a good man. I was at his house a few weeks ago to talk about this and that and he is still very excited.
"He actually calls and says, 'When's the next one?'
It was revealed last month that the veteran host will talk about the new immersive experience BBC Earth is launching in London next year.
The "Total Digital Journey" will take visitors to the world's seven continents and show images from the BBC series "Seven Worlds, One Planet".
Arriving at the new Daikin Center at Earl's Court in March, the BBC Earth Experience will see images, including extended scenes, projected onto multiple polygonal screens using the latest digital display technology.
Visitors can take a 360-degree audiovisual journey as they explore stunning landscapes and encounter some of the world's most adorable animals.
This experience will allow visitors to see views from all over the world, from fireflies in a spectacular light show in North America, howler monkeys huddled together in Asia, and hungry hamsters fighting for their lives in Europe.
