With a new year comes new trends. And while interior design is more about personal taste and bold creativity, the trends themselves are the cornerstone of good design. You can guide your design if you're not particularly inspired. And they can make your decisions when all options seem insurmountable.

According to Realtor.com, six paint colors will influence interior design trends in 2023.

For a soothing and natural look, warm shades of green are an excellent solution.

“Warm greens are inviting colors that are rich yet vibrant,” Gena Kirk, vice president of the corporate design studio, told Realtor.com. “We are seeing a growing interest in greenery in the kitchen as people move away from plain white and gray spaces.”

Neutral tones will never go out of style, so expect earthy tones to stay popular.

"They provide a foundation for future development, seasonal rotation and regular updates," Kirk told Realtor.com. “On this blank canvas, homebuyers can envision their own version of a space and discover how special memorabilia, family heirlooms and artwork can make it their own.

According to Devin Shaffer, Lead Interior Designer at Decorilla, bolder shades of gray are quickly taking over.

“Customers are tired of the limited list of shades of gray that builders and painters use by default,” he told Realtor.com. “Fortunately, there are more creative nuances.

“This color is perfect for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms. When used in a hallway, it can help create an attractive tone. When used in the bedroom, it can induce feelings of calm and relaxation. Most of our clients mention the words "refuge" or "solitude" when describing how they want their home to feel. »

dark blue

Navy blue offers a safer path for those looking to spice up their living space with bold colors. SD House Guys co-founder Alex Capozolo told Realtor.com that the color has become more popular.

“Dark blue has been steadily gaining popularity over the past few years and is poised to become a big color trend in 2023,” he said. "Use it as an accent wall or pair it with lighter shades of blue for a more subtle effect."

Soft reds are back in full force, says Carlynn van Noppen of Fig Linens and Home.

"Soft, understated reds add color while maintaining a neutral brick wall feel," she told Realtor.com. “This means potential buyers will be impressed with the overall look of your space and be able to introduce themselves there.”

For additional color in your living space, consider mustard yellow.

“Mustard tones are easy to work with and can blend naturally into your home,” Robin DeCapua, owner and designer of Madison Modern Home, told Realtor.com.
