In El Paso, people can look forward to several events that usher in spring and get people ready to tackle home improvement projects or clean up the yard.
When income taxes come back, it's even more motivating to add new plants and shrubs to your landscaping or replace your kitchen counter with something fresh and new.
And we all know that El Paso's usual good weather is just around the corner, so get ready to spend some time outside.
There are three main events to look forward to:
The return of "House and Garden".
Homeowners can find plenty of ideas for kitchens, living areas and backyards at the 22nd annual Home & Garden Show this weekend at the El Paso Convention Center. The show runs from 2pm to 6pm on Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday. And this year, thanks to Eco Living Home Improvement, entry is free.
The poppy festival lasts for a month
The Archeology Museum has announced that Poppies Fest 2023 will last for several days this year. These are Saturdays March 4, 11, 18, 25 and April 1
The festival is dedicated to the wildflowers that appear around the museum and in the desert when it rains well in winter. Poppies usually bloom in late January and last until early April.
The festival, which is free to enter, is expected to feature activities and programs for the whole family.

Florafest returns in early April
Florafest, which promotes the planting of native flowers, shrubs and trees in local landscapes, takes place on April 1. The event sells hundreds of drought-tolerant plants and trees grown in sunny El Paso.
The sale will be held April 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the University of Texas El Paso Undergraduate Learning Center Plaza. Bring a credit card, no cash.
Plant sales are the only funds for the maintenance and operation of Chihuahua Desert Gardens. Buyers can turn to local gardeners, breeders and other plant experts to care for their plants at home.
