The Overland Park, Kansas manager of Olive Garden — now the former manager, according to Olive Garden's parent company — is trying to institute a secret sick leave policy.

Part of the letter, which was received by a local news station, read: "We will not tolerate any more excuses for cancellation. If you're sick, you have to come and prove it to us. If your dog dies you must return it and check with us. If this is a "family emergency" and you can't figure it out, so be it.

You do not like? "Go work somewhere else," the letter advises. Which feels like an invitation as it requires a closer look at a dead animal.
In the alleged letter, the manager also mentioned that she personally changed when she was ill and even showed up for work on time after a car accident. Don't tell people that! It's embarrassing! No one should care too much about their work. Find something else in your life that brings you joy! These bakeries are no good.
The letter went on to say that anyone who calls in sick more than once in the next 30 days will be fired because everyone knows that if you're sick, you're only going to be sick one day. And when a restaurant is understaffed, what better way than to lay off employees?
The author of the letter ends with gratitude for those who came on time and expresses hope that everyone will continue to work for him. Tell your employees that you don't respect them if they don't die for the olive grove, then ask them, "But we're fine, right?" It's an approach that never backfires. Your subordinates love it and no one will tweet about it.
I hope the next manager of this olive grove doesn't mind!
