The manager of an Olive Garden in Johnson County, Kansas, was fired after he sent a scathing letter to restaurant employees alleging employees were calling too often.
The author of the memorandum was verified by the company as the manager of a chain of restaurants owned by Darden. The content of the memo was posted on Reddit, where thousands of commenters gave their opinions on the rant.
“If you are sick, you must come and testify on our behalf. If your dog is dead, you must bring it in and confirm,” the letter says. The author threatened to "fire anyone who calls more than once in the next 30 days", adding that he has never been "removed" from the network in over 11 years. “I literally crashed at work one day, the airbags went off and my car was wrecked, but you know what? I came to work, ON TIME!” marked note.
The manager, who was not named in the letter or at Olive Garden when they announced their layoffs, began the letter by saying that a "significant" number of workers had recently arrived.

“Do you think I want to be here before midnight on Friday and Saturday? No, the manager wrote. — I would rather be at home with my husband and dog, go to the cinema or see my family. But I don't want to, I intend to be here. Just like you. complaints."
An Olive Garden spokesperson told MarketWatch that the company fired the manager who sent the letter. “This message is not in line with our company values. We can confirm that we have parted ways with this manager," they said.
