Spring always comes a little earlier at the Dispatch Spring Home and Garden Show presented by Ohio Mulch.
Attendees at the 2023 event, taking place February 18-26 at the Ohio Expo Center, will experience the sights and smells of the seven parks, as well as a variety of speakers and programs across multiple stages. Tickets are $8 online and $10 at the box office. Children up to 2 years are free.
Visit DispatchHomeandGardenShow.com for more information, including a daily schedule.
There are only six attractions here.
MORE: Home & Garden Show volunteers bring half a century of experience to the show
1. "The Magic Garden"
It will be a disappointing trip if you don't smell the seven garden flowers on display. Local landscapers, working on an 'enchanted garden' theme, have grown everything from rhododendrons and Japanese maples to skinny roses and weeping cherries. Along with these beauties, props like gnomes, gazebos, a hammock, a children's playhouse, and a lava-spitting dragon are inspired.
2. Murals in the Art Park
The art park will feature artwork by local artists and students, designed by Under the Tree Designs and produced by Little Industries. Visitors will see many murals created in real time during the show.
3 Coyote Peterson appears
An adventurer, animal expert, and Ohio State Film alumnus will take to the main stage on February 20 at 1:00 p.m. She talks about how her love of nature inspired her to a successful career as an Emmy-winning host of YouTube's Brave Wilderness. Peterson is known for extreme stunts like 500 harvester ant stings.
4. Carpentry demonstration by a 6 year old girl scout.
Daisy Chloe has built butterfly houses, a craft table and a solar powered car and she's only 6 years old! The Girl Scouts will take to the home stage on February 25th at 5pm for a special woodworking demonstration. She will be joined by Tammy Wharton, CEO of Heartland Council of Ohio's Girl Scouts. Chloe is one of many girls encouraged by Girl Scouts to study STEM and become skilled professionals.
5. A Beginner's Guide to Bourbon
A home and garden show doesn't end with a little bourbon — after all, corn is a plant, right? Gary Groth, co-founder of the Old Oak Society, will host Bourbon 101 on the main stage on February 25 at 6:00 p.m. Four styles of bourbon are available for tasting. Additional event tickets are $5 for five tastings and are limited to the first 20 guests ages 21 and up.
6. Garden inspo with Teresa Woodard
Last year Teresa Woodard, Nick McCullough and Alison McCullough published American Roots, a book in which home garden designers are pushing the boundaries across the country. Woodard will appear on the Garden Stage at 2:00pm on February 25th to talk about some gardens and give tips on how to plant them.
